The policy accounting (PA) feature of the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) allows you to account for IP traffic differently by assigning counters on a per input interface basis based on the group list, AS number, and AS Direction.

BGP PA Output Interface Accounting incorporates several extensions that allow BGP PA to be used on an output interface and provide an accounting for both input and output traffic on an interface centered on a source address. To classify the IP traffic, counters based on the group list, autonomous system number, or independent system route are allocated.
