Binary SYC (BSC) or Bisync is an IBM, half-duplex link protocol announced in 1967 since the implementation of System/360. Binary Synchronous communication. The STR protocol used by second-generation computers has been replaced by the sync transmitting receiving protocol. The aim was to allow the use of standard connection management rules with three separate message character encodes. Six-bit Transcode stared back at older schemes, with USCII 128 characters and EBCDIC 256. Transcode vanished very soon, but the Bisync dialects EBCDIC and USASCII continued to be used.
