Looking for Definition of DSU – data service unit or what DSU stands for?
A data service unit is a telecommunication linking device that converts digital data between telephone companies and local equipment and is often called a digital services unit. The system translates bipolar digital signals from a digital circuit and directly from a CCU into a format (e.g., RS-530). These are compliant with the DTE (e.g., router) components to which the data is sent. In turn, for data going from the DTE to the circuit, the DSU also conducts a similar operation. The telex service a DSU can provide in a digital data network can be a point-to-point or multipurpose operation.
